“You show me the path of life; in Your presence, there is fullness of joy.”
-Psalm 16:11
Beyond the frantic pace of our hurried lives, there’s this inward whisper, a quiet invitation, a gentle nudging that there is more. It is easy to miss beneath the relentless rhythm of our days. We press forward, burdened by expectations and endless tasks, suspecting there must be more to life than all the constant striving.
God sees our restlessness before we do. He quietly watches as we move through life, filling our schedules while our souls grow weary. He stands at the door of our hearts, waiting for us to notice Him. Underneath all the noise, we miss His voice. We fail to recognize how deeply He longs to meet us in the stillness, to quiet our striving with His peace.
We complain of never having enough time, of feeling stretched too thin, overwhelmed, and weary. He does not walk away. He invites us to:
“Come. Cease striving. Sit with Me awhile. Learn from Me. Watch how I walk this journey. Experience the unforced rhythm of My grace.”
… Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything ill-fitting on you. Keep Company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Matthew 11:28-30~ The Message
“When religion does not give people an inner life or a real prayer life, it is missing its primary vocation.”
